Lady Boss Series featuring Pilates by Carrie

Lady Boss :  is confident, charming, a powerhouse.

In case you missed it last week, I am SUPER excited to share with you this little project I have had in the works for sometime now.  This Lady Boss Series started years ago when I began a fun ‘momepreneur group’ on Facebook.  I invited local Chicago business women to share their thoughts and ideas on running a business and manage their home.  I had no idea the amazing response I would receive from fellow career women and decided to use this little corner of the web to share these amazing businesses, products, and services geared towards parenting, newborns, pregnancy, babies, childhood, families, and more!

Every week, here on my blog, I will be featuring inspiring MOM BOSSES, LADY BOSSES and WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS that offer products and services catered towards fellow parents, mamas, families, new dads, etc!  These blog features are going to be a great resource for new parents and include different services and vendors ranging from local doulas and postpartum care to nursery designers, clothing lines, and online baby products!  And, in case you missed the last chapter in my Lady Boss Series, check it out!

This week!

I am thrilled to be sharing this weeks chapter and I am absolutely certain that women will relate to this and most will have a light bulb moment!  This week, my Lady Boss Series will be featuring Pilates by Carrie which is an amazing service both online and in the Chicago land area!  Carrie is so inspiring and her main mission is to educate and empower women which is why I just HAD to include her in this series.  I personally have taken Carrie’s diastasis recti (DR) classes and absolutely LOVED the course.  At the bottom of this article is a 2 minute video clip of her in action so make sure to watch!

When did you start this business? Share your story on how you began.
My name is Carrie and I am a Women’s Health Physical Therapist which means that in addition to helping women with things like back pain, hip pain, neck pain and knee pain, I specialize in more intimate diagnoses like pain with intercourse, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence and then many pregnancy and postpartum and perimenopausal issues as well.  I am also a Pilates instructor where I specialize in Prenatal Pilates, Postnatal Pilates, Diastasis Rectus Abdominus Rehabilitation, and Pilates for Perimenopause/Menopause.  After 10 years in the clinic setting, I realized women were saying the same things to me over and over.  Things like “How come no one told me about my body like this before” or “I had no idea this could happen” or “I didn’t know that my exercise program was worsening my condition.”  I decided that if I really wanted to help these women, I had to meet them on the front lines.  So I left the clinic and entered the community where I founded Pilates by Carrie, a business designed to help women of all ages move their bodies better, safer, stronger, and for longer!

Describe the services you offer and why they would benefit new moms/ women.
I offer 6 week courses that are a combination of education and exercise for pregnant women, postpartum women, women with diastasis rectus abdomnius or those looking to restore their core, and women in midlife entering perimenopause or menopause. These programs are available in group classes, online sessions that can be completed at your convenience and via private sessions.

Where do you offer services exactly and when should women first get in touch with you?
I teach group classes in Naperville, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Batavia, St Charles, and can bring the class to your area if at least 6 women are interested!  I also teach these classes in an online format that can be completed at your convenience.  The Prenatal Pilates class is appropriate for all trimesters and fitness levels. The Postpartum Pilates class is most effective if completed within the first year postpartum.  The DRA Rehab and Core Restore program can be completed at any time but especially following childbirth, abdominal surgey, if a DRA is present early in a pregnancy, and as the entryway point for anyone who is not a regular exerciser.  The Pilates for Perimenopause program is best for women over 35 years of age.
