Today on the blog we are celebrating this beautiful couple and their engagement! Sending a big congratulations to Tiffany and Kenny! This happy couple traveled all the way from Springfield, Illinois for their engagement session with me. As a couples and engagement photographer in the Chicagoland area, I knew the perfect location for their session. This dreamy meadow and preserve isn’t far from my studio and was the PERFECT backdrop for a gorgeous engagement photos.

The Hickory Creek Preserve has beautiful wild flowers that are in bloom for only short time in September. This spot is tucked away in the beautiful southwest suburb of Mokena. According to the preserve’s website, ‘the preserve is also home to a variety of plant species, including lead plant, beechwood sedge, yellow trout lily, prairie gentian and wild senna’. From August through October there are different spots within the preserve that have native flowers in bloom and absolutely love shooting families and engagement photos there.

There is something very special about meeting couples, getting to know them and documenting this particular season in their lives.

Tiffany and Kenny were engaged to be married not long ago and were looking for a photographer to capture this beautiful time and I am so happy they reached out. We had a wonderful time during their session, capturing their love and affection for one another the entire time.

Finding the Perfect Outdoor Location!

Are you looking for the perfect outdoor location? Take a look at your local preserves and find the ‘hidden’ spots throughout the location. Bring your friends or significant other and walk the preserve. Observe and take note of the small patches of flowers, hidden paths, and larger trees with foliage. You do not need a large landscape to create a beautiful backdrop for your photos. Explore your angles and make the most out of the patches of flowers and grasses!

My studio is located in Homer Glen and there are a handful of local preserves within a 20 mile radius. My favorite preserves are those with long grasses, established trees, a beautiful meadow area, and seasonal flowers for added color.
