Baby Thighs and Belly Laughs

Baby Thighs and Belly Laughs

When I first became a mom, the first few months were so sweet. The delicate feeling of a brand new baby against your chest just feels so peaceful. Those moments were some of the very few that I was living in the N O W. It was magical, but it was fleeting.

A few months go by and although it feels like minutes. You are chasing around a bubbly crawling ball of YOU. Their little babbles play through your head like a hardwired jingle. These are normally the months when you start to understand the quote, “you make my heart smile”. Because nothing will brighten and tickle your chest quite as harsh, as a 7 month old baby full bellied laughing. This is normally the time where you both are sleeping more, and your perfect brand new baby, starts to find her feet. She’ll have favorite foods, and tickle spots, and you will barely even recognize the baby you rocked to sleep just a few months prior. And although so much has changed, the one thing that hasn’t is how much YOU make her heart swell.

Most of us dote on our moms our entire lifetime, try not to let anything you are insecure about hold you back from documenting those few moments with your sweet babe. They will only have those pudding-filled baby thighs for so long, give them a smooch, and make her laugh, I promise this time is one of the sweetest.

“There aren’t too many things more authentic than a mom making her baby laugh.”

This mama has been a client of mine for a few years, I started photographing her son, right at this age mark! When she walked in, I could tell she had spent all morning getting everyone else in her family ready, that she felt like she had neglected herself. It took some nudging to get her to join in the pictures, but I am so glad she did- they were some of my favorites from the shoot. Because no matter how exhausted she was, or how bland she felt that day, there aren’t too many things more authentic than a mom making her baby laugh. It is always a pleasure, ‘K family’, and p.s. keep having babies, because you make the sweetest little humans.

Baby’s First Year Plan

Friends! I now offer a couple of options to document baby’s milestones! The first is my ‘anytime’ mini session! These sessions are perfect for those looking to document baby at 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. They are at a discounted rate and include 8 digital files with the package. Mini sessions take place at my studio location in Homer Glen and last about 20 minutes long. This is just the right amount of time for me to capture your beautiful baby and their special milestones.

The second option is my baby’s first year plan. This package is so popular amongst clients and they love this option to capture baby’s newborn session and other milestones throughout his or hers first year. If you are interested in one of these, please reach out and we can chat about all of the details! It would be lovely to meet with you!

Clothing and Prop Ideas

“What should I wear?” Is the most commonly asked question I receive. And my answer is always the same. Keep your clothing items simple and beautiful. Choose pieces that reflect who you are as a person and what makes you feel the most confident and comfortable. I recommend a more natural color palette and for baby, I offer a beautiful studio wardrobe filled with a collection of organic cotton pieces. Using simple wraps and scarves is a simple way to document those chunky baby thighs and belly laughs. This mauve wrap the baby is laying on is from H&M.
