Family Photo Session at Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena, IL

New Lenox family session

I had such a fun time during this family session at Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena, IL.  We told stories, played ring around the Rosie, and ran through the fields.  It was such a gorgeous evening and I loved capturing their story.

I absolutely love photographing the ‘O’ family!  I went to junior high with Jill and was thrilled to hear we would be living in the same subdivision in New Lenox.  Our children go to school together now too and it’s so fun to be apart of such a fun neighborhood.

What I look for in an outdoor location?

Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena, IL is one of my favorite locations to shoot at.  I have a couple of hidden sections that I shoot in and absolutely love the long grasses and fields there.  Surrounded by trees and beautiful light, the backdrop is absolutely beautiful for a family lifestyle session.

This particular evening was in mid September and the temperatures where just perfect for shooting.  My favorite time to shoot are the last two weeks in September.  This is a short window of time, however for the last three years, those two weeks have been absolutely perfect.

Planning your family’s wardrobe for the session

This can be one of the most challenging parts for some clients.  I encourage you to think about a color scheme you absolutely love and start from there!  I offer a great Pinterest board with clothing recommendations and update it regularly with the current trends.

When to schedule your family lifestyle session?

I would LOVE to photograph you and your family in 2018.  It’s never to early to start thinking about booking your session.  I currently have my January through April 2018 scheduling block open for studio and outdoor sessions.  I will be opening my May through August scheduling block soon!  Laurie Baker is Chicago’s best maternity, newborn, and family lifestyle photographer.  Her studio space is located in Homer Glen, not far from Naperville, Illinois.
