As a Chicago pregnancy and newborn photographer, I absolutely LOVE incorporating parents into sessions.  I totally understand not feeling your best and the last thing you want to do is have your photo taken BUT I assure you that you will cherish these images with your new baby so much.  There is something to incredibly sweet about the size of your baby up against your face or hands.

Welcome baby ‘R’

I met Candice a few years ago through a mutual friend, and amazing photographer, Emily Lucarz.  She came in with her one year old daughter ‘S’ and I knew the moment she left my studio we would become friends. A year later she brought in her little boy, baby ‘A’.  Soon after that, another baby boy ‘V’ and only thirteen months later another baby boy ‘R’!  Their family is complete and absolutely perfect!

Tips for capturing emotive motherhood images

1.  I always ask mom to take a deep breath and on the exhale, I press my shutter.  This allows for relaxed images and shows connection between mother and baby.
2.  I tell mom to move closer and to hold the baby a little tighter.  As she moves her face closer to the baby or snuggles a little tighter, magic naturally unfolds.
3.  Express the importance of being present and in that moment with their baby.  Suggest that they ignore what is happening in the room and truly be mindful about cuddling with their new baby.
4. Provide a comfortable and cozy atmosphere.  I always play relaxing music, diffuse the lavender essential oils, and a warm and clean space.
