Hey neighbor

Meet the M family!  We met this awesome group a few years ago when we moved into our New Lenox neighborhood.  Luckily they are some really great people and I tell them all the time they can never move.  It is so nice to have a friendly neighborhood and I’m so happy our families met and became friends!

Hickory Creek Junction family session

We had a gorgeous night for our session at Hickory Creek Junction in Mokena.  The sky had some beautiful soft clouds and the temperature was perfect.  The field I shoot at regularly was scheduled to be mowed down that week but luckily we arrived just in time before the pretty grasses were clipped!  This family is naturally very fun, energetic, and loving so it made this session flow easily.  Very little prompts if any, were needed to get them to connect and I really enjoyed shooting them.  Here are just a few of my favorite images from our session!  Enjoy M family!

How to pose big kids

I am asked this question a lot by fellow photographers and I use the same technique posing bigs as I do littles.  Older kids are just like little kids in a lot of ways.  (Most of the time) they LOVE being cuddled and played in the exact same manner as younger children.  Wrestling, tickling, cuddling, and hugging are great ways to get real smiles and natural poses.  When it’s time for parent shots with each child I always encourage mom or dad to tell a special story to their child when it’s their time.  It gives them attention that makes them feel special which allows them to get physically closer with that parent.  By giving them small prompts along the way, I’m able to capture sweet and natural moments.
